(19.10.2008, 21:53:10) The verdict is in: Klaas Kersting and Alexander Rösner, founders of the world-wide leading offerer of online games Gameforge, have been awarded with the coveted price "Entrepreneur of the Year 2008" in the category "Start-up".
Gameforge is rated among the most successful, most innovative and biggest growing companies in Germany. The award ceremony took place yesterday evening in the Alte Oper in Frankfurt with about 900 invited guests from the economic, scientific and political field.
For the twelfth time already, the examination and consulting firm Ernst & Young has chosen the best companies in Germany from 300 renowned firms – the "Entrepreneurs of the Year". They thus honor those companies with the courage to take risks and an extreme desire to succeed – and those that redefine the standards in Germany with their innovative energy, commitment and high motivation.
"The award "Entrepreneur of the Year" proves yet again that we are on the right track with our strategy," states Gameforge CEO Klaas Kersting. "When we founded our company in 2003, people were smiling about us – today browser games have become an important part of the Internet culture and are an economic success." Gameforge CTO Alexander Rösner adds: "The award is the result of the hard work and the tireless commitment of the entire company. Only those with innovative ideas who also implement them can prevail on the world market."
With a yearly growth of about 350 per cent and more than 160 employees, the Karlsruhe company makes up the spearhead of the young browser game movement. Every day, Gameforge gains about 250.000 new players – and is thus far ahead of any competitor. Gameforge offers more than twelve games. And it regularly establishes new records at that: And three of its games – Ikariam, Gladiatus and Legend Online – have passed the one million user mark after two months already.
