Introduction
(27.04.2007, 19:42:50) Have you ever played a really good game, any game, and thought, ?wow, that was freaking amazing??. I have: Final Fantasy, Day of Defeat, Eve Online to name a few. How many web games can you think of that have left you with that feeling? I personally can't think of any. Honestly. I have been playing web games for about five years and I have signed up to probably over thirty different ones. No feeling of awe for me.
Well this is where I am trying to make my mark. I have been playing games since I was five and have been designing games (pen and paper, board game, card games, and alternate rules) since I was... fourteen or fifteen. I am also a web developer which basically means I know what I'm talking about generally when I am discussing scripting.
So what I do is write a blog about designing techniques, scripting tips, idea's, planning and damn near anything else that comes to my mind that relates to web game design and development. Basically I am trying to eliminate crappy web games. Designers will have no reason anymore to make games where player interaction sucks or just basic concepts are bad. I intend to cover it all.
And right now I am working on spreading the
glorious word that there is help out there for us designers/developers. That
you aren't allow and there are people like you. Really there are. Really.
But I need everyones help that reads this. I need ideas. I need to target what the community wants to read and wants advice on. You can do this is a few ways. Email me at baridic(dot)knowledge(at)gmail(dot)com or leave me some comments here. Part of my goal isn't just to have my 'views' on these things. We are talking about design and code. There are tons of ways to accomplish the same thing, so if you have a better way, or an alternate way or just an idea or concept of a way to do it differently share it in the comment section!
I will hopefully be back with a real post soon. I intend to try to release at least an article every Friday, but like I said, I need ideas! FEED ME YOUR THOUGHTS! Hope we can get some good discussions going on soon ^_^
