Kalydo announces Classic game channel
(08.06.2009, 08:17:54) Kalydo, the browser based 3D game platform, announces its upcoming Classic game channel. Next to its larger, often story driven games, the classic games will offer an alternative stream of games, reshaping the retro games of old into Kalydo?s trademark 3D worlds. Kalydo hopes to appeal to an even wider audience this way and substantially increases the number of quality game releases.
After a successful beta period, Kalydo had its commercial launch earlier this year. A constant increase of players and successful partnerships has earned them a modest place in online 3D gaming already. Kalydo now moves forward to expand its scope and introduces the Classic game channel.

Instead of delivering simple remakes of classic retro games, players can expect wonderfully creative 3D games in the likes of their big brothers, already offered at Kalydo. The classic games will have an attractive price point and come with goodies such as ringtones and avatars. The first games are scheduled for launch within a two months .
Rob van Gulik, Game Technology Director at Kalydo says:
“We are very excited about the classic game channel and to us it was not even so much about the strategic advantages. We noticed for some time our game developers just love to work on smaller creative projects that they could go crazy on. It’s a great way to re-use some of our creative work and give a new spin to those classic games we all have grown up with.”

Chris van der Linden, Creative Director at Kalydo adds:
“We are really going the extra mile on these classic games. Every games receives a unique treatment so it stands out on its own. For example Mahjong Mountain sees the return of your favorite Cube characters, on a majestic mountain set in Cube world. Its not going to be a Mahjong like the ones you get everywhere for free, this is a true adventure.”
