No Sign of a Crisis – Gameforge Creates More Than 150 New Jobs

(28.11.2008, 11:48:42) Gameforge will continue its path of expansion in the coming year as well. The Karlsruhe company will hire at least 150 new employees in 2009 and is especially looking for graduates and "young professionals" for the fields of game development, graphics, support, quality management, product management, and online marketing. Unlike the traditional gaming industry, the young company is unaffected by the financial crisis and should realize a turnover in the three-digit million range in 2009.

"We expect that the recession will even give growth an additional boost," Gameforge CEO Klaas Kersting explains. "Our business model works to our advantage here. Classical game developers depend on the willingness of their customers to spend money on a game without knowing whether they will really enjoy it. This willingness should drop significantly in the future." Gameforge games only require a one-time registration with user name, password and valid e-mail address. Registered users can play each of the more than 12 games for free and without limit. Those still willing to spend money can do so by purchasing add-ons and premium game features and thus personalize their game figures, for instance, or gain small time advantages for the game.

In order to be able to guarantee the development of new games and the expansion of existing ones with the familiar quality in the future, the company is constantly on the lookout for technically highly qualified staff. "There are many exiting projects ahead of us," according to Kersting. "In 2008 we already have nearly tripled the number of our employees. But we are still looking for any number of creative minds that enjoy promoting Gameforge with us both nationally and internationally."
