Internet entrepreneur joins the eRepublik Board

(21.01.2010, 11:33:15) Republik Labs, the social strategy games publisher, and one of the top European Start Ups today announced that Toby Rowland, Founder and CEO of the new maths game site Mangahigh.com, previously of King.com and uDate.com, has joined the eRepublik Board.

Based in London, Toby has a wide experience in building companies in the Internet. He was VP of Marketing of uDate.com, which grew to be the second largest dating site for the US and UK markets and was acquired by IAC in December 2002 for 150 million US $. In 2003 he co-founded King.com, serving as Co-CEO until his resignation in June 2008. During this period, King.com grew from start-up to be one of the world's largest casual games businesses.

“We are very happy to welcome Toby Rowland as the newest member of our Board. He has a great understanding of the Internet and online games space that is widely recognized in the industry and has earned the companies he founded many awards. Toby is without doubt one of the top UK Internet entrepreneurs. We are sure his experience and counsel will be a great asset for eRepublik and help us achieve many more milestones such as our recent announcement that 1 million eRepublik citizens have been created just over one year after launching our first public version,” says Alexis Bonte, Co-founder and CEO of eRepublik.

“I’m really excited about becoming part of this project. eRepublik has incredible growth potential and I’m amazed at the dedication of its community. I hope my contribution will help this New World to keep growing at the current rapid pace.” states Toby Rowland.

eRepublik recently hit the one million citizens’ (registered users) mark only 15 months after releasing its public version and reached the 1 million unique visitors per month landmark last July. In December of 2009, www.erepublik.com received over 8.6 million visits and 206 million page views. In addition, during December, citizens spent over 132 million minutes navigating the eRepublik world.

The New World’s social based game play allows it to spread virally in terms of content and users, with almost no distribution and content creation costs. Listening to its community, the eRepublik team has been able to make regular releases, adjust game-play, try new things and add new features so as to increase the vast number of options players have to interact among each other. Now, after recently celebrating the first year since its public launch, over one million citizen accounts have been created and eRepublik has an active community of over 350,000 people worldwide with more than 50% playing every day.

Browsergames Strategie Wisim Free To Play
