Description
After months of development and testing DicingDangers is now in open beta. This is a fun and full fantasy role playing game online.
The game is simple in design, being browser based and using a combination of text and graphics to present the fantasy world of Gonrah. The style is fun and cartoony but there is a lot of depth behind the simple look and feel.
DicingDangers is played in real time. Players create a character and then get action points to spend on exploring, hunting, crafting and other activities. Action points regenerate every minute to a maximum of 3000 which gives a game time of about 2 hours twice a day. This is interesting in that it stops constant gaming and encourages a more casual style of play.
The game system is level based. Level 100 being the maximum level. Experience points are earned through crafting, combat, the use of magic. Just about every action earns experience points that go into skills and the overall level.
The game calls itself the Anti-WoW. This being because it is everything a top MMORPG is not. The graphics are simple and yet there is enough to add atmosphere. The game play is simple and yet there is plenty to do. Oddly fishing is one of the most popular activities even though this is just a sideline. The game is multiplayer with a built in chat system and player versus player combat.
If you are looking for something a little more laid back, more fun, perhaps a game that does not take itself seriously then this is a good one to try. Another interesting tact is that the game is designed with HTML Iframes in mind. This means that it is easy to include the game on other websites. Webmasters can run the game from their own site much like the thousands of flash games now available. It will be interesting to see if this is taken up in a broad manner.
